Advice on biofuels – Raw materials
Our boilers are suitable for ordinary 6 or 8 mm pellets and numerous other pelleted energy crops*. Essential factors are energy value, ash content, volatile content and price. You should choose a fuel with the lowest cost per energy unit once you have taken into account the fuel’s performance in the burner, ash content and its environmental impact.
*Tests have performed using pelleted fast growing energy forests and crops.
Ash and combustion
Heating with a pellet, biomass or log boiler is very similar to heating with other heating sources.
The big difference is that you use a renewable fuel that leaves a residual product in the form of ash.
This ash must be removed at regular intervals to prevent it reducing efficiency or disrupting the boiler function.
The boilers have a good size compartment for ash in order to minimise the number of visits to the boiler room.
Using our accessories for ash removal will simplify the work even more. All soot/ash removal is undertaken from the front.
You can return the ash (approx 25 kg/year*) to nature by scattering it on your lawn, thus reducing the need for fertiliser, combustion of biofuels does not add to the amount of greenhouse gas, carbon dioxide (CO2) in the atmosphere.
* Depending on power output and fuel type
